Mount Baker Community Club Family Movie Night: Puget Sound Starts Here & Rainwise Edition

  • Mount Baker Community Club 2811 Mount Rainier Drive South Seattle, WA, 98144 United States (map)

Seattle Public Utilities has partnered with the Mount Baker Community Club to sponsor a free Family Movie Night next Thursday, May 4th from 6-8:30PM, and you are invited! We will be hosting WALL-E, a Disney/Pixar film about a small waste-collecting robot who embarks on a journey that will decide the fate of mankind. The story, which is set in the future, carries themes of environmental stewardship and waste management, and topped Time’s “Best Movies of the Decade.”

May is Puget Sound Starts Here month, and dozens of events will be taking place around the region to raise awareness about the connection between our urban neighborhoods and the stormwater drains that link to local streams, lakes, and eventually, Puget Sound. It’s also an opportunity to get citizens involved in direct restoration and protection efforts happening in their neighborhoods. We want to take this opportunity to connect with our neighbors, and share some of the ways that families in the Puget Sound area can work to protect our waters.

The event will be hosted by Seattle Public Utilities' RainWise Program, which is a rebate program for homeowners in select Seattle areas who install rain gardens and/or cisterns. Mount Baker and its surrounding neighborhoods fall in our RainWise-eligible areas, and we are looking forward to connecting with homeowners at this event.

Doors open at 6PM, and the event will begin at 6:30PM. Fremont Brewery has kindly donated a limited supply of adult beverages, and concessions will be provided.  Please bring blankets and/or low chairs, and arrive early to find your spot on the floor! (Some chairs will be provided).

We would greatly appreciate it if you would RSVP for the event: http://mbccfamilymovienight.eventbrite.com
